notes
"Holograph, signed. Deborah Weston tells about the social visits planned and received. \"Father Bourne\" [Rev. George Bourne] delivered the lecture at Salem Street, since [James Trask?] Woodbury refused. Deborah had a wonderful time on the Common, and \"the fire-works were beautiful.\" According to Henry B. Stanton, they raised $150 for the national, and $20 for the Massachusetts [anti-slavery societies]. Deborah writes that \"Catherine Beecher or rather the review of it is to come out tomorrow.\" [This is a reference to Catherine Beecher's \"Essay on Slavery and Abolitionism,\" which appeared in 1837. Addressed to Angelina E. Grimke.] Deborah's school quarter is out at the end of this week, but vacation will begin two or three weeks later. She says that Sarah Ann [Bailey?] has gone, \"having been sent for in the ugliest manner by Mrs. Bailey.\""
