"Holograph. This unsigned letter is presumably Maria Weston Chapman. Chapman begins the letter with a discussion of her firm's financial results for the year and a general criticism of the \"fancy doings at Washington.\" Chapman says: \"Keep writing to me... My mind works all day on securities & order...\" She describes her grandson [Henry Grafton Chapman's son?] in glowing terms. She attacks Sydney Howard Gay for an article in the Tribune. She praises John Jay and discusses the state of her health."
