notes
"Holograph, signed. In this letter, William Lloyd Garrison thanks Robert Purvis for his hospitality; Garrison is nostalgic for Philadelphia. He describes the worst New England summer since 1816. Garrison is planning a possible lecture tour through the free states for the purpose of \"vindicating the rights of the free people of color, and forming anti-slavery societies.\" Arthur Tappan and the Rev. Peter Williams approve of this. There are two items enclosed: the original manuscript by William Lloyd Garrison and a copy. The copy is not William Lloyd Garrison's handwriting."
